Hi Everyone,

I’m running another workshop next week as part of the Healthy Habits team. This time I’ll be in my Sistahintheraw persona and we will be focused on the raw food lifestyle, with a short exploration and food demo…

The Healthy Habits programme is growing, this is based upon what people told us they wanted, so Ngozi, Barbara and myself decided to have an impromptu Carols & Folk Songs Togetherness Evening to share singing those familiar old time end-of-year cultural songs & seasonal Carols on 18th December 2016 (next Friday) evening.  It will be such fun we do hope you can join us, you don’t have to be of any particular faith or denominations to attend.

If you’re a nervous public singer like I am, don’t worry, someone will lead us and there will also be song sheets available. We will be at Brownhill Road Baptist Church, London SE6, from 7.30pm.

I am so pleased to have been asked to participate in facilitating ‘Healthy Habits‘ an evening of explore what ‘healthy’ means to us. Come with your mum, dad, aunty, uncle, nephew, nieces… Places are limited so do book early.

Want to stay healthy and fit? Learn to dance!

Benefits of dancing include: Improved flexibility, reduced stress, boost to memory, strengthens your heart, diminishes depression, helps you to lose weight, improves your balance and increases your energy levels…

Check to see what local classes are running in your neighbourhood, and there are often special deals for young people and the over 50’s. There are many styles to choose from, from tango or salsa to ballroom, and it doesn’t have to be as energetic as the video above. If you have not exercised for a while, or have any injuries, do check with your GP and the dance teacher first, then take it slowly. The most important thing is to relax into it, smile and have some fun 🙂

African philosophy on illness

This is a wonderfully challenging concept of wellness and illness to the Western mindset. It teaches us that before the physical or physiological manifestation of illness appears, there is a root psychological, emotional and therefore spiritual nature to causes of illness, which needs to be considered, before we can know how best an illness should be treated naturally, by using the spirit energy of plants as medicine.
